About Kenya

Kenya, breathtakingly gorgeous, encompassing the savannah, lakelands, the dramatic Great Rift Valley and mountain highlands. It's also home to the only capital in the world that has an actual safari: Nairobi. Explore colourful markets with a bounty of gorgeous fabrics, traditional clothing, handmade jewelry, art, as well as up and coming designers, and of course amazing cuisine.

Wildlife like lions, elephants, zebras and rhinos abound on its famous Masai Mara Reserve, known for its annual wildebeest migrations, as well as the home of the majestic Maasai tribe.

This experience is perfect for families and groups of friends who want more than only a typical safari: you will also  spend the day with local Maasai to learn their beading craft, and experience how these guardians of the land have acted as her steward and protector for generations.

Good to know

Visa: Most foreign visitors to Kenya are required to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA). Failure to do so will result in denied boarding and/or deportation on arrival.

What to wear: The weather varies and can get cold at night, but quite warm during the day. Bring layers and a light to medium jacket. Comfortable, close toed hiking shoes are also a must, even better if they are waterproof.

What NOT to pack: Camouflage print anything! Civilians are strictly forbidden from wearing camouflage print in Kenya as it is exclusively reserved for military use.

Vaccinations: none required unless you're from countries with high risk of yellow fever.

What about Malaria? We highly recommend everyone follow an anti-malaria regimen, in addition to regularly applying bug spray. The most common malaria pill is Atovaquone-Proguanil, better know by its brand name Malarone. Even though malaria has been officially eradicated in Nairobi, this is not the case in rural places such as the Mara. Prevention is the best course.

Medicine kit: Pharmacies are extremely well-stocked in Kenya. A lot of medications that you would only be able to get by prescription in the US are easily available over the counter. With that said, it's a good idea to pack at least a 1-week supply of your personal prescriptions.
